1 Take: Jeremy’s Journal Volume 8: Building Relationships in Business

Hey everyone, it’s Jeremy Ochsner here, and welcome to another edition of the One Take Journal! Today, I’m excited to reflect on the past week, which ended on March 1st, 2024. Let’s dive in and see what went down!

Networking and Relationship Building:

One of the highlights of the week was attending a networking event at the Breakthrough Network on Leap Day, February 29th. It was a casual environment with great food and even better conversations. Networking has always been something I’ve enjoyed, thanks to my father’s influence. He taught me the value of building a strong network, and it’s a lesson I’ve carried into my adult life and business endeavors.

However, at networking events, it’s crucial to remember the importance of building genuine relationships. While it’s tempting to focus solely on selling products or services, I believe in taking a more conversational approach. I aim to make connections and leave a positive impression, regardless of whether there’s an immediate business opportunity.

The Power of Genuine Connections:

During the networking event, I encountered a few individuals who were quick to hand me their business cards without much interest in engaging in a meaningful conversation. While it’s essential to exchange contact information, I believe true networking goes beyond surface-level interactions. It’s about fostering genuine connections and showing interest in others’ stories and needs.

At Ochsner Insurance, we prioritize building relationships above all else. Whether someone becomes a client or not, our goal is to leave a positive impact and provide support whenever possible. After all, you never know where a genuine connection might lead or who you might be able to help down the line.

As we wrap up another week, I’m excited to see what the future holds. Despite the challenges and uncertainties in the business world, I remain committed to building meaningful relationships and making a positive difference in the lives of others. Whether it’s through networking events, client meetings, or everyday interactions, I’m dedicated to treating people with respect, empathy, and kindness.
